Temporary Immigration:

Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP)

There are many job openings in Canada but when no Canadians or permanent residents are available to do the job, employers can apply for
a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Service Canada. A positive LMIA is required to hire foreign workers under this program. There are other Canada Visa options available to employers and perspective applicants and we will be discussing them below.

International Mobility Program (IMP)

Certain foreign workers can be exempted from the LMIA requirement based on international agreements, reciprocal employment opportunities and other Canadian interests. An offer of employment in IRCC’s Employer Portal is required to hire foreign workers under this program. There are many Canada Visa exempt countries and this option is a good alternative for their citizens.

Global Skills Strategy (GSSBenefits employers using either the TFWP or IMP:

1) 10-day LMIA processing for in-demand occupations on the Global Talent Occupations List or based on referrals from ESDC partners

2) Two-week work permit processing for Global Talent Stream or high-skilled (NOC 0/A) IMP applicants

3) Work permit exemptions for short-term work: high-skilled talent (NOC 0/A) for 30 days or less

4) Dedicated Service Channel: personalized service based on referral from an IRCC partner
